I
(Carol) always loved cats. My first cat "Squeaky" came to me when I was
3 years old. She was abandoned at my fathers carpentry shop. A tiny black
& white tuxedo kitten, she became my best friend and playmate. I dressed
Squeaky in doll clothes and took her, and later her kittens, for rides
in my doll carriage. She never complained.
Buz, the Irishman,
married into a family of cat lovers. His first acquaintance was with Donoe,
a large gray tabby with aqua eyes. By the time Buz met Donoe, we called
him Old Doe. Old Doe was a wonderful, laid back guy. He was great for warming
feet in bed at night and patting your legs with his paws when he wanted
food, water, or attention. He took to Buz right away and begged from him
the most.
Later,
two daughters moved back home one with cats, one with human children.
The children smuggled in a tiny white long haired kitten. We all loved
the kitten, watching it play for hours on end, collapse from exhaustion,
rest for an hour, and then start all over again. Then, when all the children
and grandchildren moved out, we suddenly realized that we had no pets.
One night while watching
TV, we saw Ragdoll cats on Company of Animals. The Ragdoll seemed to have
all the qualities we wanted in a cat. They were playful, loving, tolerant,
intelligent, low shedding, and non matting. The low maintenance was important
to us since we both have careers and are short on time. Buz owns and
operates a Barber & Beauty Shop, and I am a full time Nurse Manager
along with my volunteer work as a Registered Nurse.
We brought our first
ragdoll home from (Rags 2 Riches) Scottie Cone in North Carolina and a year
later our first stud male from Pat Bender of Ragsrus in Florida. We became
breeders of Ragdoll Kittens. Breeding offers us the best part of cat loving,
Kittens! We love them, play with them, and then send them to good homes.
Many new kitten owners stay in touch with us for years to come, making
this an even more rewarding adventure.
